InCouragements Insight - Gratitude

Share

These days I have come to realize that being grateful and full of gratitude will change your attitude. When I say attitude I am not particularly referring to having a bad one, I am referring to being in pain, lonely, rejected, bitter, angry, broken heart, disappointment, grief and many others.

At this moment in my life I am dealing with several of the above emotions, but as I was driving to work this morning I heard in my spirit the word "gratitude". I immediately knew that God wanted me to be grateful for moments, people, and experiences that have occurred instead of feeling rejected, hurt, angry and alone. That was one of those "aha" moments. God wants us to be grateful on every part of this journey even the hard ones, because out of every bad experience there is possibly a moment to be grateful for.

Sometimes we lose people that mean the world to us either by death or they walk away, and your heart seems so broken and in so much pain. You feel alone, because all you knew was that person, the person was such a key part of your life. Then there are those moments and experiences that you look back on and become grateful for, allow these moments to bring joy and gratefulness to your heart. Then there are the adversities we deal with in life, be it financial, family, job, whatever it might be, it becomes difficult, but even in these moments we have to find the gratitude, and press forward.

So, as I continued to drive, I realized that on the recent journey I had occurred, I had so much to be grateful for, and thankful to God for the awesome journey and the ride. As I always say on this journey called life, there will be some stop signs, roadblocks, detours, potholes and some traffic jams, but we still have to be grateful for the green lights, and the roads and bridges that take us to new places.

As I close I say to you all live in gratitude, start daily taking note of this, I believe you will be surprised at how much you have to be grateful for.

  1. Very good post Mechell. I love the quote that Pastor James MacDonald always says:

"Gratitude is the attitude that sets the altitude for living!"

  2. Mechell, you are on point with this one, because even if we look back on our bad experiences, though they may be painful, there is usually a lesson learned. And there is a blessing in every lesson, so that in itself is something to be grateful for. Thank you for the reminder.
